Biography
Scottish rock outfit St Deluxe crafts melodic noise-pop rooted in the legacy of trailblazers like Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr. Guitarists Jamie Cameron and Martin Kirwan, both formerly of Speeder, launched the group, which also includes drummer Stuart Kidd and bassist Brian McEwan. Cameron’s upbringing in Glasgow brought early encounters with the Jesus and Mary Chain, Teenage Fanclub, and additional acts that tracked material at his father’s nearby studio, fueling an enduring passion for guitar-led melodic pop. That influence extended to collaborations with Glasgow’s storied indie act BMX Bandits, a band with which every member of St Deluxe has shared the stage. The ensemble issued its self-titled debut on Poppydisc in 2008. Two years later, St Deluxe delivered the follow-up Born into Flame.
