Biography
An American singer and songwriter working in the contemporary Christian pop vein, Staci Smith first stepped forward in 2013 with the EP Whisper to My Heart. She delved deeper into matters of belief on her 2015 project Count It All Joy, where she served as co-writer alongside Dove Award-winning songwriters Don Koch and Kenn Mann.
Born into a household filled with music—her father performed with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, while her grandmother, also a vocalist, counted among her siblings a church organist who continued playing until the age of 100—Smith discovered her path after the devastating losses of her mother and grandmother. Seeking both to ease her own sorrow and to uplift others facing similar trials, she began crafting songs shaped by the religious environment of her youth. Following a transformative mission trip to South Africa in 2013, she issued her debut EP, Whisper to My Heart. While abroad she encountered Dove Award-winning songwriter Kenn Mann, who urged her to turn inward for lyrical material. She then brought in Mann and Don Koch, likewise a Dove Award recipient, to co-write her second EP, the uplifting Count It All Joy of 2015, which received widespread rotation on Christian radio stations worldwide.
