The rock outfit Staggered Crossing, known to some supporters simply as StagX, consists of lead vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist Julian "JT" Taylor, drummer Jeremy Elliott, bassist Dan Black, guitarist Bruce Adamson, and keyboardist-guitarist Darrell O'Dea. Around 1997 the five musicians assembled in Toronto, Canada, and began blending rock, blues, and pop elements that critics frequently labeled jam rock.

The musicians first crossed paths while attending high school, bonded by their shared enthusiasm for creating music. Following extended rehearsals they took the stage at neighborhood clubs and soon joined tours alongside Spirit of the West, Big Sugar, Nickelback, and additional acts, experiences that sharpened both their instrumental command and their command of live performance.

Under the Warner Music Canada imprint the band completed its self-titled debut album in 2001. Among the songs featured on that initial long-player are “Dancing in the Mist of the Night,” “A Million Works of Art,” “I Can’t Whistle,” “When the Morning Comes,” and “I Might Be Gone.” Several of the tracks received music videos that helped the group attract a broader audience.
