Starglow Energy originated in Switzerland in 1990 as a five-piece and has since maintained an active touring presence throughout the country and its immediate neighbors, specializing in progressive rock modeled on 1970s styles. Their first album, Same, received a private pressing in 1993; a member departed the following year, reducing the group to the four-piece configuration that has remained intact ever since, consisting of Gogs Andrighetto on vocals and guitars, Vivo Stefania on bass, Luky Bosshardt on Hammond organ, Mini Moog and mellotron, and Michi Stefania on drums. Time Machine followed in 1995, with the live album 100% Live appearing in 1996, a period that also saw multiple singles and appearances on various compilations. The third studio album, Gate to Celdan, was issued in 1998. Although Starglow Energy incorporates elements drawn from Uriah Heep, Atomic Rooster and Grand Funk Railroad, the band deliberately aims to increase the sophistication of those reference points.
