Biography
Stemin blends contemporary pop and electronic sounds with his exuberant, soul-tinged, and artfully crafted R&B compositions. Originating in Europe, he trained there as a jazz vocalist and composer. Following a 2017 release issued under his birth name, he launched the Stemin project in 2020 via the album #tellyourheart. After a live EP, he resurfaced in 2022 with Unspoken Dreams.
Stefano Minder entered the world in Thun, Switzerland, and grew up in Italy, where he began piano and saxophone lessons early on while performing and singing in church settings. Immersed from childhood in Motown, gospel, and jazz, he pursued formal jazz training, completing a bachelor’s degree in jazz vocal performance at Saint Louis College of Music in Rome and later earning a Master of Arts in composition and performance at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen, the Netherlands.
After remaining in the Netherlands, Minder issued the jazz-focused Love Through My Eyes in 2017 under his own name. He subsequently shifted toward the pop-soul leanings of his formative years under the Stemin moniker. His independently released debut, #tellyourheart, surfaced in August 2020 and was co-produced alongside Australian DJ/producer Nick Thayer. Three months afterward came the EP Live at FunnyBones Studios, which captured live versions of four tracks from the first album. The 2021 single “Our Universe, Our Galaxy” served as the opening track of his second full-length, Unspoken Dreams, issued in 2022. That album was co-produced with Benjamin Ventura and Filippo Bubbico and included performances by drummer Jacopo Volpe, bassist Adriano Matcovich, guitarist Paolo Zou, and singer/songwriter Chiara Stroia.
