Biography
Stephen Beaupré established himself early as both a dedicated organizer and hands-on contributor within Montreal’s electronic music community, having first honed his production skills in his native Ottawa prior to relocating. Those initial tracks appeared on the 2002 Montreal Smoked Meat compilation issued by Force Inc. He soon joined forces with Deadbeat for the Musique Risquée project Blame Canada, a partnership that would place the pair among the leading figures in IDM throughout the early 2000s. Occasional 12-inch releases bearing his distinctive style continued to surface, culminating in 2006 when MUTEK Records—the imprint tied to Montreal’s annual digital-music festival—issued his first solo album, Foe Destroyer.
