Biography
Stephen Fellows served as guitarist and vocalist in Sheffield's Comsat Angels, where his arpeggiated guitar approach and songwriting earned him cult-hero status. Once the Comsats disbanded in the mid-'90s, he issued Mood X, a set of ambient guitar drones, on English Electric. Even after enduring legal complications, label troubles, and lukewarm coverage throughout the band's sixteen-year run, Fellows reentered the industry's business side after encountering a demo from an unknown group of young scruffs. That act later took the name Gomez, and Fellows stepped in as manager while also contributing occasional studio guitar. Time spent with the musicians reignited his own creative impulses, prompting him by late 2000 to revisit rock-oriented pieces he had been developing for several years in anticipation of issuing a second solo album.
