Steve "Stone" Huff launched his musical path by playing bass in a church ensemble and later built a career that encompassed production work, performances, and featured contributions on multiple platinum-certified tracks while also cultivating his own solo output. Years of behind-the-scenes service as a producer, road musician, and studio bassist for gospel and R&B figures such as R. Kelly, Yolanda Adams, and the Winans preceded his independent debut in the mid-2000s, when he began releasing singles and ultimately a complete album while balancing music with pastoral duties.

Raised in a faith-centered home in Evanston, Illinois, Huff acquired a bass guitar during childhood and mastered the instrument through self-instruction. He soon expanded his skills to additional instruments and basic production techniques, which opened doors to session work alongside other performers. Recognition within gospel and R&B circles followed, leading to extensive touring as a bassist and production credits throughout the 1990s and 2000s on material by Keith Sweat, Sparkle, Avant, and Keke Wyatt. By the late 2000s his emphasis shifted toward ministry, including service as a Chicago pastor and greater attention to family life. Music under his own name resurfaced in 2016 with the single "#DWTS." Additional singles paved the way for the 2017 album iPromise, whose gospel-R&B fusion captured the breadth of his prior experience. He followed with the 2018 single "Cookies."
