Steven Cravis works as both pianist and composer, creating scores for television and film as well as projects in the technology sector, while also issuing new age piano recordings centered on meditation and relaxation. Born in Massachusetts, he started piano lessons at seven and later trained in piano performance at the Berklee College of Music. Drawing influence from George Winston and Hans Zimmer, he independently issued his debut collection of solo piano works, True Reflections, in 1992. The Sound of Light appeared three years afterward. Among the albums that followed were Lavender Dreams in 2004, the 2007 release Soothing Ringtones, and Something New Under the Sun, a 2009 collaboration with vocalist Mark Stevens. Later the same year he produced the entirely improvised solo album Healing Piano on a Kawai RX-7 grand piano. The Quell Collection, issued in 2013, gathered pieces originally written for the Quell app. During this period he accumulated numerous screen credits, composing for short films, games, and broadcasters such as CBS, Animal Planet, CNN, and the U.K.'s Matchroom Sport. Also in 2013 he put out the compilation Music for Film, Television and Games. Cloudwalker, a further solo piano album, arrived in 2016. One year later he supplied the score for the 2017 TV documentary Going the Distance: Journeys of Recovery, which profiles survivors of traumatic brain injury.
