Biography
Following the dissolution of Mirza, the San Francisco space rock unit, Steven R. Smith launched a solo career, shaping somber sonic environments through intricate, layered guitars and supplementary instruments. He released two albums in 1999, From Ashes Come and Autumn Is the End, before issuing the all-instrumental covers EP Death of Last Year's Man in 2000. Lineaments, a lush instrumental album on Emperor Jones, arrived in the summer of 2002, two years after the EP, yet Smith remained active with additional projects during the interval.
