Biography
Steven Springer, a guitarist born in Trinidad, drew early inspiration from steel drum traditions and calypso sounds. His debut ensemble, Sanctuary, collected multiple honors throughout the American Southwest. He later became part of the Trinidad Calypso Band and performed with them at the 1988 World Fair in Brisbane, Australia. Once that group completed its tour, he moved on to the Trinidad Tripoli Steel Band. Caribbean Casino, his initial solo album from 1994, merged calypso, reggae, and jazz.
