Biography
Sticks & Stones emerged as a Chicago-based collective when local jazz stalwarts Matana Roberts, Joshua Abrams, and Chad Taylor assembled to serve as the Sunday-night house band at the Velvet Lounge. Their regular appearances there helped build a loyal audience throughout the Windy City, which in turn led to the 2002 release of the group’s self-titled debut on 482 Music.
