Strange Folk

Origin: U.S.A

Strange Folk was an eccentric, knockabout ensemble located in England’s Lakeland region and built around Mike Willoughby and Mike Gavin, who mixed skiffle with environmental protest songs. The group immersed itself in the folk scene for two summers, appearing at festivals, traveling in an old van, fashioning music from any available instruments, cutting an album for Fellside Records, and then disbanding.

In the mid-90s Willoughby launched the Cumbrian-based ceilidh band Striding Edge while also establishing himself as a solo singer-songwriter.
