Biography
Street Sects emerged in 2013 as an industrial duo based in Austin, Texas, built around vocalist Leo Ashline and multi-instrumentalist Shaun Ringsmuth. The pair have labeled their approach “sample driven punk,” a style that fuses dense sound editing, harsh noise, jackhammer rhythms, and cathartic, nihilistic screaming. After issuing two self-released singles in 2014, the duo quickly became fixtures of the city’s noise scene. Their debut album, End Position, was recorded and mixed at Machines with Magnets in Providence, Rhode Island, then issued by The Flenser in September of 2016.
