Biography
British guitarist, singer, songwriter, and producer Stu Garrard earned recognition both for his own faith-based alternative rock and for his extended tenure in the influential Christian rock group Delirious?. Born in England in 1963, he picked up the guitar early and absorbed the sounds of Queen, Rush, the Police, and Led Zeppelin while growing up. Following high school he sharpened his technique at London’s Guitar Institute, where he started his first band, the Stuart David Band, which later became known as Treasure Park. After establishing himself as a sought-after session musician in the early ’90s, he linked up with singer/songwriter Martin Smith in the nascent faith-and-worship collective the Cutting Edge, which soon adopted the name Delirious?. Between 1994 and 2009 he toured and recorded extensively with the band, contributing to a string of commercially successful albums. Once Delirious? disbanded, Garrard settled in Nashville and launched the trio One Sonic Society alongside Jason Ingram and Paul Mabury. He also joined tours with Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant, issued the EP Of Burdens, Birds and Stars in 2013, and returned in 2017 with the full-length album Beatitudes.
