Biography
While The Orb stood unrivaled among electronic acts in merging ambient textures with dub influences, Sub Dub approached that ideal most nearly by merging studio craft with live performance. The four-piece lineup of bassist John Ward, programmer Raz Mesinai, vocalist Ursula Ward, and tenor saxophonist Grant Stewart first appeared in 1994 on the TKI label with the Babylon Unite EP. One additional EP, Dawa Zangpo, preceded their full-length debut, issued by Instinct in 1996; Dancehall Malfunction arrived the following year.
