Biography
Sulfur City comes across as a straightforward working-class rock band from Ontario, Canada. Their hard-hitting mix of rock, soul, R&B, and blues brings to mind the Black Keys, Left Lane Cruiser, Alabama Shakes, and the Dead Weather. Guitarist Jesse Lagace and powerhouse vocalist plus electric washboard player Lori Paradis started the group, with the latter often compared to Janis Joplin, Patti Smith, and Grace Slick. Bass player Steve Smith, drummer Sam King, and keyboard player Keith Breit round out the roster. The band secured a contract with Alive Records in 2015 and entered the studio to record its first album. Produced by Dale Morningstar (Neko Case, Cowboy Junkies), the resulting Talking Loud appeared in June 2016.
