In late 1965, Curt Boettcher and Victoria Winston formed the short-lived duo Summer's Children and cut their sole 45, "Milk and Honey"/"Too Young to Marry," for Date Records. Boettcher would shortly afterward co-create the California sunshine-pop sound alongside the Ballroom and the Millennium, and the Summer's Children single already displays the bright, folk-tinged melodies and vocal blends that would define his subsequent projects. Relative to those later efforts, however, Summer's Children comes across as excessively wholesome and innocuous. Both tracks later appeared on the three-CD compilation Magic Time: The Millennium/Ballroom Recordings, a set primarily given over to material by the Millennium and the Ballroom yet also containing selected recordings from additional Boettcher-linked sessions spanning 1965-1968.
