Biography
Formed in Washington by devotees of old-timey and classic jazz sounds, Sunshine Skiffle Band ranked among the scant '90s ensembles devoted to skiffle or jug band styles. Core members comprised Gil Carter on rhumba box, Henry Stinson on harmonica and kazoo, Don Rouse on clarinet, Tom Layton on washboard, Dan Cassidy on fiddle, and Wes Butts on gutbucket. The ensemble performed throughout the area across the 1980s and early '90s, releasing its sole widely distributed album, Beat It, Blow It, Strum It, Hum It!, on Rounder in 1992.
