Biography
Super Uba, a native of the Dominican Republic, exhibits his skill in merging age-old Latin rhythms with today's global music influences through his command of bachata, bolero, son, and merengue. Ubaldo Cabrera, his birth name, first developed his singing and guitar abilities in Santiago after joining his uncle there from the countryside village of Guateque de la Isabela. Multiple ensembles and trios in that city featured his performances until his relocation to New York City during 1995, leading to his settlement in Brooklyn. The November 2003 issuance of Tierra Lejana on Laso Records featured guitar contributions from Edilio Paredes, a bachata specialist and long-term companion.
