Biography
Supergenerous unites Brazilian percussionist Cyro Baptista with Canadian guitarist Kevin Breit in an offbeat pairing that fuses jazz with folk traditions rooted in each musician’s homeland. The outcome delivers an unpredictable mixture of maritime, samba, and country styles, propelled by Baptista’s vast array of percussion instruments such as surdo, Balinese gongs, symphonic bass drums, cowbells, metal refrigerator drawers, snare drums, and cymbals, among others. Their self-titled debut album appeared in the fall of 2000 on Blue Note.
