Venezuelan outfit Sur Carabela assembled a roster of seasoned hometown players to form a seven-piece trip-hop ensemble shaped by leading figures across that style. Composer and arranger Oswaldo Rodríguez joined forces with Ervin Shafer—formerly the bassist for Sentimiento Muerto and known publicly as Wincho—to steer the project. Once Willy Díaz, Bernardo Rísquez, Lendell Clarke, vocalist Valeria García, and Emidio Falconi (recording as DJ Baffa) completed the lineup, the band laid down its debut long-player, simply titled Debut. Latin World issued the set, which spotlighted the hit single “Lejos de Aquí.”
