Susan & The Surftones

Susan & the Surftones focus their sound squarely on surf music in the vein of 1960s innovators such as Dick Dale and the Ventures. Their approach meshes with the broader surf revival that surfaced during the opening years of the 21st century, a movement that also includes outfits like Jumbo Shrimp and Aqua Velvets. The group’s four members are lead guitarist Susan L. Yasinski, vox organist Kim13, drummer Brian Goodman, and bassist Buck Malen. Releases such as Without a Word, Bitchin', and Thunder Beach combined cover material with original songs, yet the 2001 anthology The Originals assembled every self-penned track from those earlier albums on a single disc while adding a handful of new compositions.
