Biography
Originating from Seattle, Washington, Susan Court, professionally recognized also as Susan Maughlin Wood, functions as a composer, pianist, and producer. Piano instruction marked her entry into musical study near the age of seven, and that pursuit extended until she obtained a BA in Music Theory/History from the University of Washington. Her inaugural solo album, High Relief, appeared in 1998 as a set of folk-pop pieces that encompassed the tracks “Between the Quiet,” “Blight & Bonny,” and “Floodletting.”
Throughout the 2010s she earned a Master of Music in Film Composition while working under Hummie Mann in the Pacific NW Film Scoring Program at the Seattle Film Institute; at the same time she established the production company PunchBeam Music, LLC. Film projects receiving her scores include the 2013 release Rocket Man and the Aerial Fortress and the documentary Beating Batten, with additional work directed toward video games and apps.
