Biography
Susaye Greene accumulated an extensive array of professional accomplishments across multiple creative fields, yet her name remained largely unfamiliar to mainstream audiences, due in part to the delayed arrival of her debut solo project until 2002. Her most prominent association came through a brief tenure with the Supremes well after the group's peak commercial era, joining original member Mary Wilson and Scherrie Payne in the lineup. She contributed to the act's final pair of albums while also teaming with Payne to record, compose, arrange, and oversee production on the Partners album. Additional highlights include penning Deniece Williams' hit single "Free," performing as part of Stevie Wonder's Wonderlove ensemble, and co-authoring "I Can't Help It" with Wonder for Michael Jackson's platinum-certified Off the Wall album. She further lent her voice to recordings by Ray Charles and Harry Belafonte, appeared on jazzman Courtney Pine's "Children of the Ghetto," guided careers for singers, writers, producers, and actors, and contributed illustrations to books. For her own first solo effort, No Fear Here, Greene handled production duties and wrote or co-wrote every track except one. The resulting collection blends contemporary R&B with touches of adult contemporary, dance, and theatrical styles, yielding a broad yet unremarkable stylistic range.
