Biography
Emerging from late-'70s art punk influences, Seattle outfit Sushirobo crafts angular, funky pop that echoes the spirit of Devo and Wire while injecting its own contemporary edge. Rather than relying on conventional songwriting, the group typically develops material through extended jamming and improvisation before shaping the results into finished tracks. Initially operating as a trio—Arthur Roberts on guitar and vocals, Barry Shaw on drums, and Clay Martin on bass—the band issued its first EP, Action Causes More Trouble Than Thought, in 2001. After recruiting guitarist Dave Einmo, the expanded lineup delivered Drawings and Garbage Structures in 2002 and returned the following year with The Light-Fingered Feeling of Sushirobo.
