Biography
Susie Hansen stands out among the limited number of violinists focused on Latin jazz, regularly performing with her ensembles dedicated to both jazz and salsa throughout the Los Angeles region. Initially instructed by her father James Hansen, who spent 37 years performing with the Chicago Symphony, she pursued jazz studies in Boston under Charlie Banacos. While in Chicago she frequently joined Cedar Walton on stage, before relocating to L.A. during 1988. Beginning in 1989 Hansen has directed her personal groups, making her first appearance on the Jazz Caliente imprint in 1993 via the release Solo Flight.
