Biography
In 2011 the members of SW/MM/NG began shaping their hazy, summertime guitar pop while living in the college town of Fayetteville, Arkansas. After a U.K. act also called Swimming delivered a cease-and-desist letter, the group adopted the present, more iconographic spelling SW/MM/NG. The fivesome point to classic alt/indie acts such as Galaxie 500 and the Jesus and Mary Chain as key influences audible in their texturally fuzzy brand of dream pop. Regional exposure eventually drew the attention of Brooklyn’s Old Flame Records, which signed the band once its leadership witnessed a set at Austin’s SXSW. A sequence of singles appeared throughout the year before the 2014 release of the group’s debut album, Feel Not Bad.
