Biography
Emerging as an offshoot from an offshoot, the Sweat Band took shape inside Bootsy's Rubber Band, itself an earlier outgrowth of the Parliament/Funkadelic collective. Bassist Bootsy Collins joined the group for the single "Freak To Freak," which he co-produced with George Clinton. Saxophonist Maceo Parker, keyboardist Joel Johnson, and drummer Carl Smalls made up the lineup, yet the band’s run on Uncle Jam Records proved short-lived within the wider Parliament/Funkadelic orbit.
