Biography
Richard H. Kirk, recognized through his affiliations with Cabaret Voltaire, Sandoz, and Electronic Eye, joined forces with Sheffield-based DJ Parrot to establish the joint venture Sweet Exorcist. The pair has issued material only intermittently following their 1990 debut on Warp, which earned widespread critical praise, yet they have stayed prominent on dancefloors since the second wave of U.K. techno emerged in the early 1990s. Selections from their output appear on multiple Warp compilations, among them the Artificial Intelligence series and the Blech mixtape, a placement that situated them as creators of techno suited for focused listening even as the project retained strong favor among working DJs. Kirk and Parrot have further issued numerous EPs on the Alphaphone label, both separately and together, under a range of aliases that includes Robots and Humanoids, Code Warrior, and others.
