Biography
Sweet Thursday arose briefly as a modest all-star collective, bringing keyboardist Nicky Hopkins—long celebrated as a top-tier session player—together with singer-guitarist Jon Mark, known from his time with the Bluesbreakers. The outfit’s lone effort, the self-titled album issued in 1969, leaned heavily on the sound and spirit of Bob Dylan’s Blonde on Blonde phase, marked by raspy vocals, piano-and-organ textures, and fatigued, obliquely sketched tales of romance.
