Biography
Under the name Sword Heaven, Aaron Hibbs and Mark Van Fleet produce raw, punishing sounds they label “dirge noise,” an approach that pushes the intensity of the Swans and Test Dept. toward its most extreme volume. Their dense, penetrating swarm of sound fuses slow yet pummeling rhythms, tape manipulation, piercing guitars, and screaming. The pair launched their joint activity in 2003, playing shows alongside 16 Bitch Pile-Up and Wolf Eyes while releasing material through the CD-R imprint Alamagator. Maintaining a steady stream of live appearances and recordings, Sword Heaven later joined the Load Records roster and issued their debut full-length, Entrance, in 2007.
