Biography
Philadelphia rapper Sy Scott first surfaced in 2000 by joining Erick Sermon on the track "Battle," which landed on Lyricist Lounge, Vol. 2. The next year he contributed guest verses to Sermon's album Music and followed with another appearance on the 2002 release React. Both artists joined Prince Paul's Politics of the Business in 2003, and their final collaboration arrived in 2004 when Scott appeared on Sermon's Chilltown, New York. After relocating to Atlanta in 2005, Scott crossed paths with producer Dallas Austin during the revival of Rowdy Records alongside the Decatur-based act Da BackWudz. Austin initially assumed the frequent office visitor was an intern, yet a quick display of lyrical skill led to an immediate signing. While the Rowdy camp prepared Scott's official debut in 2007, his underground mixtape Sychosis, Vol. 1, recorded with DJs Don Cannon and the Aphilliates, reached the streets.
