Known as France's urban-pop equivalent to Rihanna, Tal entered the world in Israel back in 1989, the offspring of a father skilled on guitar and a mother working as a professional vocalist, before moving with her family to Paris's Le Marais neighborhood during her childhood years. Piano and guitar became part of her repertoire after she signed up for modern jazz dance instruction at the age of 12, and following a short period with the theater collective Les Sales Gosses, she started singing covers at various piano bars throughout the city, leading to her discovery by songwriter and producer L'Aura Marciano. Over the course of two years the duo developed her first album Le Droit de Rêver, which included team-ups with dancehall star Sean Paul and French-Algerian rapper L'Algérino before achieving a Top Ten chart placement at the time of its 2011 release.
