Talk Normal

Formed as a no wave-inspired noise-rock duo, Talk Normal features drummer/vocalist Andrya Ambro and guitarist/vocalist Sarah Register. The two musicians came together in 2007 and began putting out CD-Rs that extended the lineage of angular, cerebrally noisy groups from Ut, DNA, Sonic Youth, and Teenage Jesus & the Jerks through Magik Markers and Sightings. Bassist Richard Hoffman of Sightings lent his playing to the duo’s debut official recording, the 2008 EP Secret Cog. In 2009 they toured with kindred spirits including Tall Firs, US Girls, and AIDS Wolf, and that autumn issued their first full-length album, Sugarland. After a 2011 single and a split EP shared with Thurston Moore, Talk Normal delivered its second album, Sunshine, which favored melody while remaining demanding.
