Among Canada's treasured musical talents stands singer and songwriter Tammy Raybould. Beginning in 1998, her independent methods on the debut EP Facade earned widespread critical praise along with substantial domestic airplay. Performances alongside 54-40 and Sloan, plus a slot with Sarah McLachlan on the inaugural Lilith Fair, supplied extra assurance to continue her path. The full-length studio release Maybe appeared via Sony Music Canada that same year; her single "Loving You" reached prominent positions on the adult contemporary charts and received placement in a 2001 episode of Dawson's Creek. Also in 2001 she contended with Nelly Furtado for Best New Solo Artist at the Canadian Radio Music Awards, though the nomination alone proved meaningful. Visibility continued to expand rapidly. A May 2002 agreement with guitargirls.com followed, and she performed at Atlanta's Atlantis Music Conference that summer.
