Biography
Originating from the creative direction of Jesse Poe, a producer and engineer whose credits span multiple ensembles, Tanakh took shape in Richmond, VA, during 2000. Operating along lines comparable to Spiritualized, Poe steered the ensemble by merging structured songwriting with improvisational passages to produce a distinctive effect. Their debut album, Villa Claustrophobia, appeared in April 2002 through Alien 8 Recordings. Additional collaborators have included Mick Turner, David Lowery of Cracker, and Nirmal Bajekal, a participant in Ravi Shankar’s group.
