Biography
Tannis Slimmon's presence in the Canadian music scene extends across more than two decades. Her professional singing career launched in 1980 with performances at modest venues including schools, churches, and town halls throughout the Prairie farming communities. She became a member of the Byrd Sisters in 1984, and the group maintained a rigorous touring schedule across North America until 1995 while issuing three albums. Only in 2001 did she issue her debut solo record. The album Oak Lake, titled after her hometown, drew on contributions from musicians tied to Skydiggers, King Cobb Steelie, and Dinner Is Ruined. She has also performed with the roots pop trio Benji and the acoustic folk duo Crows Feet.
