Tara MacLean

Born October 25, 1973, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canadian folk-pop singer/songwriter Tara MacLean spent her formative years across the Caribbean, Toronto, and the UK. Performances began in childhood, leading to a television appearance at age 11 that paired her with her father, a singer and dancer. During a ferry journey from British Columbia to Salt Spring Island, she caught the attention of Nettwerk Records staff from Vancouver while singing informally for companions. She joined the label in spring 1995, first drawing notice via the song "Let Her Feel the Rain" on its Lit from Within benefit compilation, ahead of the 1996 album Silence. The EP If You See Me arrived the following year, and she transferred to Capitol Records in 2000 to release her next album, Passenger.
