Biography
Tarras comprises a five-piece lineup of Rob Armstrong on cittern, Joss Clapp on guitar, bass, and mandolin, Emma Hancock on violin and whistle, Ben Murray on accordion, and Jon Redfern on percussion and guitar, with every member contributing vocals. Hailing from the England-Scotland border area, the ensemble secured a contract with Topic Records and issued its first album, Rising, in 1999, by which time the musicians’ average age stood at just 21; Rounder later arranged distribution for the United States.
