Biography
Taylor Edwards has established her presence in Nashville as a country-rooted singer/songwriter whose material frequently tilts toward pop, an approach reminiscent of Taylor Swift, through consistent and often incisive songcraft. Early on she accepted nearly every opportunity that surfaced, lending her voice to primetime soap operas and entering talent contests, before sharpening her sound and exploring social-media platforms in the 2020s. Momentum built when the 2021 single “Call Your Sister,” written for her sister seventeen years her junior, achieved viral circulation, prompting a sequence of mood-themed EPs the following year.
Edwards was born in California and spent her childhood in Bentonville, Arkansas, where she performed at talent shows and musicals whenever the chance arose. After pursuing competitive equestrian sports through her early teens, she redirected her focus at fifteen toward songwriting and self-taught guitar. Relocating to Nashville in 2012 to pursue a country career, she enrolled at Belmont University, graduating in 2016 while steadily building industry relationships.
Her first national exposure came in 2015 with a performance of Sugarland’s “Little Miss” on the CW series Hart of Dixie; that same year she won the debut Grammy U SongwritingShowdown. She translated the resulting attention into her 2018 debut EP No Hard Feelings, followed in 2019 by the singles “Universe,” “We Still Talk,” “Everybody Hates You,” and “Heart Ain’t Healthy.” These releases paved the way for the Born in July project, which began with a 2021 mini-LP and reached completion with a full-length album in 2022, both anchored by “Call Your Sister.”
The track’s online traction led to an appearance on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show. Edwards sustained that visibility in 2023 by issuing four mood-specific EPs under the MOODS X TE banner—Mood: I’m Feeling Petty, Mood: I’m Kinda Homesick, Mood: I’m Lost in a Daydream, and Mood: I’m Crying in My Car—each designed to showcase the breadth of her musical palette.
