Biography
Robert Pollard of Guided by Voices maintains dozens of side projects, and Teenage Guitar serves as one such outlet in which he captures vocals, guitar, and piano on four-track, augmented only sparingly by overdubs from bassist Joe Patterson and drummer Greg Demos. In a May 2014 interview Pollard described the venture as "a solo project thing ... where I [clumsily] play every instrument." The music recalls the lo-fi mid-'90s tapes by GBV more than the experimental mindset of his other solo projects such as Circus Devils, Night Walker, and the material released under his actual name. Teenage Guitar's debut album, Force Fields at Home, appeared in 2013 on Pollard's indie label, Guided by Voices, Inc. Fire Records issued the second album, More Lies from the Gooseberry Bush, in September 2014.
