For four decades, Terry Tucker has been captivating listeners across both sides of the Atlantic. She first emerged in her native England as singer, composer, and keyboardist with Sunforest in the late 1960s, then continued as a solo performer in England and across the European continent. Childhood piano lessons sparked her decision to pursue and complete a formal music degree. By the close of the 1960s, Tucker and friends Erika Eigen and Freya Hough had moved to London in pursuit of the expanding pop/rock scene; the trio was spotted and signed to Decca Records, where they cut a single LP as Sunforest. Although the album achieved limited commercial traction, its unusual, distinctive blend of rock, folk, and Renaissance music within a progressive/psychedelic framework earned the group a placement on the soundtrack to A Clockwork Orange. After Sunforest disbanded at the start of the 1970s, Tucker performed in clubs, composed and arranged material, and held positions at the BBC and other organizations. Her compositions have also reached American audiences through National Public Radio’s Children’s Radio Theater. More recently, Tucker has performed with the group Treehouse.
