Biography
Tessa Joy creates music that blends elements of pop, rock, and R&B into a distinctive style as a vocalist and songwriter. Her first extended play, titled I Am, appeared in 2016.
Originally named Tessa Joy Thornbrough, she spent her childhood in Cartersville, Georgia, where performances in singing and acting began early. During adolescence she enrolled at Excel Christian Academy, participating in athletics and earning membership in the Spanish Honor Society while cultivating an interest in music through guitar study and original songwriting. Following graduation she pursued a music degree at Kennesaw State University. In her initial year there she started private vocal instruction at the studio associated with established coach Jan Smith. Smith mentored her closely and oversaw the recording of the 2016 EP I Am, which featured the track “Trouble.” Subsequent releases arrived with the 2018 song “Losing My Mind” and the 2019 song “All Night.”
