Biography
Rock-infused hip-hop trio Th1rt3en operates under the leadership of rap veteran Pharoahe Monch, who recruited established musicians Daru Jones (Jack White) for drums and Marcus Machado (Anderson .Paak, Pete Rock) for guitar. Their output consists of hard-hitting crunchy tracks delivered with lyrics that pull no punches.
Monch first conceived the project in the late 2000s, yet assembling the trio required considerable time despite his early identification of the musicians, given their demanding touring schedules. Once convened, the material emerged effortlessly, even as the Covid-19 pandemic forced initial long-distance writing sessions. The debut album A Magnificent Day for an Exorcism arrived in 2021, introduced by the single "Fire" that contained verses from Cypress Hill, the record’s only guest.
