Biography
Thaba, an intercontinental pair whose sole release came in the form of Eyes Rest Their Feet (2020), rooted their close-knit creations within an eclectic mix encompassing mbaqanga-derived bubblegum alongside soul, dub, electro, sophisti-pop, and downtempo electronica.
Through MySpace, singer and songwriter Khusi Seremane first linked up with musician and producer Gabriel Cyr. Based in New York, Cyr had initially planned for Seremane, a native of Cape Town, South Africa, to contribute to tracks issued under his main moniker Teleseen. Yet their partnership evolved into a complete joint effort that was composed and tracked over multiple years, both face-to-face and from afar. With added playing from musicians tied to groups like Antibalas, Midnight Magic, and Underground System, the album Eyes Rest Their Feet appeared via Miles Cleret's Soundway imprint during November 2020. Having struggled with health issues over a long stretch, Seremane passed away four months prior to its issuance.
