Biography
Ryan Schmale, performing under the alias That Ghost, first captured his lo-fi anthems of Pacific Coast indie rock as a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter during his earliest teenage years. This Northern California native had already issued a succession of home-recorded EPs together with three complete albums by the time he turned seventeen, each one shaped by his hallmark combination of reverb-laden vocals and layered pop constructions. At eighteen Schmale obtained a contract from Twosyllable Records in Brooklyn, whose release of the album Young Fridays followed in 2008.
