Biography
Hank Shocklee, celebrated for his signature East Coast productions with Public Enemy, Slick Rick, and LL Cool J, traveled southward to helm the debut effort from Atlanta collective 9.17 Family. The group assembled three acts—Bonafide, Kin, and Backhome—alongside solo artists Yagaboo and Zoe, then issued its first album, Southern Empire, in 2001, fusing reggae rhythms with Southern bounce.
