Biography
Upon encountering Silver Jews frontman David Berman at a poetry showcase, the Seattle city slickers Actual Tigers secured their name after a postcard arrived from him. Singer/songwriter Tim Seely, together with bandmates John Low on keys and Max Perry on bass, drew inspiration from Berman’s distinctive outlook, and the encounter solidified what became a durable lineup. Each member stood on the threshold of adulthood yet discovered no comfort in that prospect. Their plainspoken compositions channeled inner drives and led directly to a debut recording. Produced by Dennis Herring (Camper Van Beethoven, Throwing Muses, Concrete Blonde), the deeply rooted Gravelled & Green appeared on Nettwerk in spring 2001.
