Biography
Since 1995 Afshin Beheshti has recorded and performed as the Afrosheens, juggling keyboards, guitars, bass, woodwinds, percussion, and mandolin—a multi-instrumental approach that originated during his residence in Minneapolis, MN. After moving to Tallahassee, FL in 1998, he assembled supporting musicians to realize his self-described “one-man empire of sound,” an aesthetic also colored by avant-garde jazz on the self-released album No Photos that same year. Alongside his performances with Ancient Brain and Divided Body, the Afrosheens delivered the follow-up release The Persian Expressway two years afterward.
